“The Petersfield & District Beekeepers’ Association” was formed in 1941 as the “Steep Beekeepers’ Association” being encouraged by the need to ‘grow one’s own food’ during the war years and after. In the 1950’s the name changed to Petersfield & District Beekeepers Association with the Object ‘to promote and further the craft of beekeeping’. Since then it has maintained a regular membership of around 100 beekeepers plus interested friends and family.

Apiary meetings are held regularly throughout the spring and summer , where members gain experience in the handling of bees. We regularly stage educational displays at Country Fairs and Events where members of the public can view live bees in our observation hive and buy bee products.

Throughout the year our members talk to groups both young and old about our craft and the importance of honeybees and other pollinators.

Winter meetings comprise a programme of lectures and training events, the Annual General Meeting also being then.
