The meeting followed the third and final round of Basic Assessments involving hives #4 and #5 on Wednesday 17th. Hives #2 & #3 were not inspected as they have new queens developing.
Prior to the inspections a short demonstration on the Pagden method of Artificial Swarms was given using spare equipment. The expectation being that there would be queen cells in hive #5 and a vertical modification of this method would be employed.
Following experiences of bad temper from Hive #7 last week it was left till last and measures taken to allow full inspection of the brood chamber.
Weather sunny, 20C at 14:30.
